Filmabad, a not-for-profit community initiative dedicated to nurturing emerging talent and celebrating groundbreaking artistic expression, invites passionate screenwriters to submit their original short film scripts (up to 10 minutes) for potential production. We are committed to discovering fresh, innovative, and culturally relevant narratives that have the potential to become award-winning films.

Submission Criteria

1. Originality & Freshness
Your script must present a new and unique narrative that stands out in today’s competitive film landscape. We are looking for concepts that challenge conventions and offer a distinct voice and vision.

2. Artistic & Cultural Relevance
Submissions should be artsy and emotionally engaging, with stories that reflect and contribute to cultural dialogue. Your work should not only entertain but also provoke thought and inspire meaningful conversation.

3. Low-Budget Production Feasibility
Given our production model, your script should be designed for a low-budget environment. This entails:

• Minimal Cast & Limited Locations:
  The script should rely on a small number of actors and few settings to maximize production efficiency.

• Innovative Storytelling:
  Emphasize creative solutions that allow the story to be told effectively within practical budget constraints.

4. Exceptional Dialogue & Narrative Structure

• Dialogue:
  The dialogue must be meticulously crafted—memorable, impactful, and instrumental in revealing deep character insights.

• Narrative Structure:
  The script should have a well-defined beginning, middle, and end, with a compelling narrative arc that can captivate audiences and critics alike.

5. Genre Versatility & Innovation
We welcome submissions across a variety of genres, including, but not limited to:

• Surreal Comedy

• Intense Real Drama

• Experimental Art-House

• Magical Realism

• Culturally Reflective Narratives

• Any innovative genre that pushes creative boundaries and speaks to contemporary issues

Submission Process

A. Script Preparation

• Format your screenplay as a PDF.

• Ensure your script meets all the criteria outlined above, reflecting both creative excellence and production feasibility.

B. Confidentiality & NDA

• All submissions are protected by a secure online Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to safeguard your intellectual property.

• Prior to evaluation, you will be required to sign the NDA electronically, ensuring that your creative work remains confidential and is not used elsewhere without your explicit consent.

C. How to Submit

• Email your PDF script to: gallery@filmabad.org

• Ensure your submission includes your full contact details and any additional notes about your concept, if desired.

Selection Process

Submissions will be rigorously evaluated by Filmabad’s panel of industry professionals. The evaluation criteria include:

• Creativity & Originality:
  The uniqueness and innovation of your concept.

• Narrative & Structural Strength:
  The clarity of the story’s arc and the depth of character development.

• Quality of Dialogue:
  The impact and memorability of your dialogue.

• Production Feasibility:
  The practicality of producing the script on a low budget.

• Overall Artistic Merit:
  The potential for the script to achieve critical and award-winning success.

The winning script will be produced by Filmabad, with full creative credit attributed to the writer.
